Former world number one Novak Djokovic announced he will not play for the rest of the 2017. season.
Djokovic announced this in Belgrade, Serbia.
Djokovic retired in his quarter-final match at Wimbledon against Berdych, and said he had a long-standing injury to his right elbow.
Some media reported that he could face up to 12 weeks on the sidelines. A physician said Djokovic has a bruised bone due to excessive playing.
Djokovic is a 12-times grand slam champion. He appeared in 51 straight grand slams since his debut at the 2005 Australian Open.
